Version number: 2.0
Effective date: 02/11/2026
1. Who are we?
1.1 We are Stress Control Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (SC450350), registered office 16 Royal Crescent, Glasgow, G3 7SL. We are the “controller” of your personal information, which means we decide how it is used. For privacy queries, you can contact us at info@stresscontrolathome.com.
2. What’s the purpose of this policy?
2.1 It tells you what to expect when we collect personal information from users of our website and services.
2.2 Generally, the policy covers only information provided to us. If you give personal information to other people, such as payment providers or other websites, please check their privacy policies.
3. Might the policy change?
3.1 Yes. We will tell you about a new version by posting it on our website and, if the changes are important, by email.
4. What do we collect?
4.1 Information that you give us, such as:
4.2 We don’t ask for health information on this website, and Enhanced Membership doesn’t include online questionnaires or worksheets. If you choose to tell us about your health in an email, we only use it to reply to you.
4.3 Automated browsing information about your use of our website, such as: the internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your device to the internet, browser type and version, information about your device (including device type and identifier), operating system, the site from which you arrived, and details of your activity with date and time stamps, including pages you visited.
4.4 We receive limited information from our payment provider, such as confirmation of payment and the last four digits of your card. We never see or store your full card details.
4.5 We need your name, email address and payment to provide Enhanced Membership. If you don’t give us this information, we can’t provide the Service to you.
4.6 Our Service is only for people aged 18 or over. We don’t knowingly collect information about children.
5. What’s our reason (legal basis) for using the information?
5.1 Because it’s necessary to take steps at your request to enter into a contract with you and/or to perform that contract. This applies to information such as initial enquiries and account, contact and purchase information.
5.2 Because it’s in our “legitimate interests”, e.g. managing and improving our Service, including tracking usage patterns, and preventing or detecting fraud or abuse. This applies to information such as contact details, automated browsing data, and surveys and feedback.
5.3 Because you’ve specifically agreed (e.g. by ticking a consent box or accepting cookies). This applies to non-essential cookies and to our email newsletter, which we only send if you have opted in. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us at the address above, or by using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
5.4 Because it’s necessary to comply with legal or regulatory obligations, for example keeping accounting records.
5.5 We may use information that has been fully anonymised (so that no one can be identified) to understand how well Stress Control works, improve it and support research. Anonymised information is not personal information.
5.6 We don’t make decisions about you using only automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects.
6. How long do we keep personal information?
6.1 We only keep personal information for as long as we need it:
6.2 We may keep information for longer if we need it for a legal claim or are required to by law. If you ask us to delete your account sooner, we will (see “What rights do you have?”).
7. Who do we share your personal information with?
7.1 With companies that provide services to us, who may only use it to provide those services to us. These currently are:
7.2 With regulators, the police and other law enforcement or official authorities, to help deal with fraud and abuse, to comply with legal requirements and/or to protect us or others.
7.3 With insurers and professional advisers in connection with our insurance cover or to deal with legal claims.
7.4 With actual or potential buyers, so far as reasonably necessary, in the case of a proposed or completed sale, merger or combination involving all or the relevant part of our business.
7.5 Stress Control classes are run by the NHS, health and social care services and other organisations. They are responsible for any information they collect about you at your class. We don’t receive information about you from your class, and we don’t share your Membership details with them.
8. Do we send your information outside the UK?
8.1 Some of the companies listed above are based outside the UK (generally in the US), so your personal information (e.g. name, contact details, IP address, browsing information) may be transferred there. Where this happens, we make sure there is a legal basis for it, for example “adequacy regulations” for particular countries (e.g. the UK-US Data Bridge, where applicable), or contracts with standard clauses approved by the Information Commissioner that are designed to protect your personal information.
9. What rights do you have?
9.1 If the legal requirements are met, you have the right to ask us for access to your personal information (a copy of it), to correct it if there are mistakes, to delete it or restrict its use in certain circumstances, to “data portability”, or to withdraw any consent you’ve given (e.g. for our newsletter).
9.2 You may also have the right to object to us using your personal information in certain circumstances.
9.3 To use any of these rights, email info@stresscontrolathome.com. We may need to check your identity. We will reply within one month, and in most cases it is free of charge. You can also update your own details and email address at any time in Account Settings.
9.4 If you have a complaint about how we are dealing with your personal information, please contact us at the email address above. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you what we are doing about it. If you are not happy with our response, or think we are not handling your personal information in accordance with the law, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk.
10. How we keep your information safe
10.1 We use secure (encrypted) connections, limit access to your information to the small number of Stress Control staff who need it, and require our service providers to protect it. If a data breach happens that is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
11. What about cookies?
11.1 We and other companies use cookies and other tracking technologies on our website. A cookie is an identifier (a small file of letters and numbers) that is sent to your web browser. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the website owner or others. Some are temporary “session” cookies that remain in your browser only until it is closed, whereas persistent cookies stay for longer (depending on the lifetime of the specific cookie). For further information on cookies, including how to block them in your browser and delete existing cookies, visit allaboutcookies.org. Our site won’t work fully if you set your browser to reject all cookies.
11.2 We only place non-essential cookies (Google Analytics and Mailchimp) if you choose “Accept cookies” in our cookie banner. If you choose “Reject cookies”, they aren’t placed. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
11.3 We ourselves may place the following types of cookies:
11.4 Companies which provide us with a service also place cookies. Some of these cookies (e.g. from Google) may involve certain information, such as the IP and web address of the page you’re visiting, being sent to the company concerned. Below is a summary of the kinds of cookies used, who places them, and where you can find more information and opt out (where possible):
